Gerardo Corrales Brenes has over 25 years of banking experience and was Executive Vice President of BAC Credomatic in Costa Rica for 17 years, during which time he also served as President of the Costa Rican Banking Association and was Director of UCCAEP.

"It is a privilege to have Gerardo Corrales on our Board of Directors. His extraordinary talent and experience will be invaluable to us, as will his ability to provide strategic guidance to help revolutionize our FinTech solutions on a global level," said Mario Hernández, Founder and CEO of Impesa.

Corrales joined BAC in 1999 after working for a short time for Banex Bank, and previously at Banco Continental. In 2014, Corrales was awarded Entrepreneur of the Year by El Financiero for his contributions to the growth of BAC Credomatic. Corrales attributes this success to developing a long-term strategy with his partners, which they established in the 90s, to apply international best practices and excellence in customer service to the organization.

In the more recent years before his departure, Corrales contributed to making the BAC one of the most profitable entities in the history of the contemporary Costa Rican financial system. According to a 2016 article in El Financiero, he was instrumental in the sale of the BAC Credomatic Group to Grupo Aval in mid-2010, a business valued at $1.9 billion. At the time of that transaction, the majority of BAC Credomatic was owned by GE Capital in the USA, and the balance by Central American investors. Corrales graduated with a degree in Economics from the University of Costa Rica, and holds a Master's degree from INCAE Business School in Banking and Finance. He is currently a Professor at Universidad de Costa Rica and Lead University.
